I’m kind of backwards with seasons. Seasonal Affective Disorder, which usually strikes people during cold, rainy, gray times, affects me during the summer. (It is hot and humid here and I’m allergic to mosquitos, so I tend to be outside during Texas summers for whole seconds at a time, and only when I can’t help it.) Spring means dread for me — it lasts about two minutes before the triple digits begin. So the energy burst that some folks experience at the start of spring? That happens to me at the start of fall. I get so excited about the prospect of going outside in the sunshine without sweltering…of cool nights…of even *considering* a longer sleeve.

I completely embrace #sewdontclean. Totally, fully, and without reservation. But this time of year just does something to me. The spring cleaning that some people get up to… hits me six months later. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to cull my pattern file. (And alongside this, I’m finally completing my transition to MyStuff2, where my digital pattern catalog will live. This is bringing me more happiness than I can express. So much fun to look through! NAYY…I purchased the app and I’m simply a satisfied customer.)

So what’s my point? Well… an embarrassingly long time ago, I won a Plus-Sized Pattern Pyramid. And now I’m finally getting around to paying it forward. The guilt about my delay, coupled with my recent destashing efforts, are resulting in… multiple pattern giveaways. I hope you’ll agree, there’s some reeeally cute stuff in here — patterns that I had to think twice (or eight times) about before parting with. But I have to face facts. I would never in four lifetimes get around to making everything I’ve collected.

you get a pattern and you get a pattern and you get...

Here’s the deal… I’m going to pass along the Plus-Sized Pattern Pyramid, but I’m also doing others. Because. I’d rather give them to y’all than to a thrift store where they might just get thrown away or something. Here are the options:

pick a giveaway any giveaway

To enter, just leave a comment below saying which one(s) you want. Hell, you can enter the drawing for all of them as far as I’m concerned! I’ll choose at least two winners in each category (six total). I reserve the right to pick EVEN MORE WINNERS, depending on how many more patterns I find to throw in… but each winner will receive at least 10 patterns to select from.

To recap the Pattern Pyramid concept, here are the deets, which I have only slightly modified from BeaJay’s original:

    • Anyone, anywhere can enter the giveaway by posting a comment below by midnight my time on Sunday, September 22, 2013 BUT you must have an active blog.
    • I will randomly select 2 winners.
    • I will post a selection of patterns (at least 10) to each winner. The winners will pick a pattern(s) to keep for themselves, then host their own giveaway. They will randomly select a winner, post the remaining patterns to that person, who will pick a pattern for themselves, host their own giveaway and …
    • All patterns are in the plus size category – ie – if the pattern comes in 2 sizing groups, then it will be the larger category. Patterns go up to at least size 20 (most go higher). Patterns listed as “all sizes” will include plus sizes.
    • If you wish to take more than one pattern you can replenish the stock with a pattern you no longer want, but please make sure it is in this size range.

    • We are taking it on trust that all pattern pieces are there.
    • Your selection of patterns will be picked at random – please don’t contact me asking for specific patterns.
    • If you’re a winner, BeaJay has asked if you could make a small contribution to The Brooke. This is a charity close to the heart of Catherine, who so generously provided the original patterns. These plus-sized patterns have been contributed in the spirit of the generosity of the sewing community.
    • Please engage in a timely fashion, launching your own giveaways soon after receiving a parcel.
    • You must be happy to post patterns worldwide.

Good luck! I can’t wait to see where the patterns head off to, and the stuff that you make from them!

  • I’m with you on having more energy in the fall. I completed my big sewing room clean up about a month ago and now I have months of sewing joy ahead of me. AND it just so happens that I am making an emphases on sewing clothing. I am interested in the “A” category. :)

  • It is Spring here and I have been gardening of all things!!!! Count me in – I have avoided the PPP and now I think it time to put my foot back in. There are some great looking patterns in your pile. Not the crafty one though – I need clothes. Thanks

  • I just cleaned up my sewing room and found space to house patterns…..I am a sewer of clothing as well as crafts, but always need more clothes and certainly more good quality patterns in the “larger” sizing range is welcome.

  • I suffer from the same ‘disorder’. I’m so much more a winter person, which is why it’s bizarre that I live somewhere that doesn’t really HAVE a winter.

I’d love to enter the giveaway (for A and B), and could probably follow in your footsteps by increasing the pile exponentially if I were to win. I’ve just been through my patterns trying to decide on my next project and there are some there that I keep passing over for one reason or another.

  • I’m a bit the same. I’m so busy with Christmas and birthdays in the summer (New Zealand), that I tend to be much more productive through the cooler months. Plus I seem to love making coats and jackets!

I would love to be included in any of the draws. Thanks!

  • I feel the same way about Fall – it is a time of renwal and excitement for me, I think because I am around students who are all super excited this time of year :) I would love to be included in the plus size pattern pyramid! Yay!

  • Please count me in for the category “A”, you have some great patterns to giveaway!
I did a big clean up last weekend and it always scares me just how much the stash has grown again! Time to sewnotstash!

  • What a great idea! I did a pattern cull when we moved about two years ago and after offering to a few folks ended up taking to an op shop. :( This idea is so much better. This way we know they will go to folks who love to sew.
Please enter me in category A. I have been a bit slack in my blogging of late but am in the process of rectifying that slump.
I would be happy to go in both B and C as well.
And I am sure that there are a few more patterns which I could add to the stash as I know there were plenty that I just couldn’t quite part with at the time, but knowing they would go to sewists rather than the bin is encouraging. :)
Oh and it’s for us ‘big girls’.

  • Please enter me in B and C! I would love to win, because I actually only own like 8 patterns!

  • Hello! I love your description of how you feel with the coming of Spring/Summer verses the Fall. I am exactly the same way. I never want this time of year to end!
Since I don’t have a blog, I would love to be entered into Cat B

  • I’m gonna have to check out that app, thanks! I’m interested in groups a and b. Thanks!

  • I too need to look into an app to categorize my patterns. I would love to be included for group B. I am a lurker, don’t have time to blog, I have an 8 month old baby, so I barely have time to sew. LOL! Thanks!

  • I love the transitional seasons myself, summer and winter are too extreme; I struggle with the heat in summer and hate the short, dark days of winter. To me, spring is a season of pleasant temperatures and optimism, and autumn is sweet and mellow. I’m lucky to live in a beautiful part of England, where the scenery is at it’s best at this time of year.
I’d love to be included in category A please, and thanks!

  • I would love to be entered into the B category please…. and also C (oh, go on then).
I’ve been sewing on and off for a year but am not brave enough to take the plunge into blogging.
I would love to win some ‘yay it will fit me’ (*does dance of relief*) patterns & I have plenty of friends I can pass any others on to.

  • I don’t do well with summer because of the heat, yes, and the long days of sunlight mess with my ability to wind down for sleep.

  • Can I throw my hat in for C? Sounds fun and intriguing!

  • Only recently found your blog via cake patterns, and really enjoy it x can I be put in for cat b please? Not blogging yet !

  • I’d love to be included in category C please. Thank you so much for the offer.

OH gosh, I cannot imagine being allergic to mosquitos. Those horrible things are everywhere. OF course, it means you have a valid reason for not going outside in 95+ temps.

  • I have a type of SADD that strikes in both winter and summer I think. In Oklahoma we often have about 2 weeks of spring before full summer hits and sometimes as much as a month of fall.

I’m going to be honest, I still am not sure I completely understand the rules. I have a blog and I’d like to be included. Also, I’m a pretty new follower but I’m loving your sense of humor and pattern choices. I like all the prints you choose :)

  • Please do not include me. I don’t have a blog and for sure I don’t need any more patterns. You had me laughing…I feel the exact same way! Fall came about 2 weeks late in SD this year…the temps have finally dropped this week and I’m feeling energetic. :) I love your blog…thank you for taking time to post!!!!!

  • I swear I thought I was a complete weirdo. I loathe the heat (and in the North West of England we do not often get triple digit heat) and spend the whole summer longing for autumn. Now the kids are back at school I’m planning a whole house Autumn Clean and will be packing up the sewing loft ready for ripping it out and converting it into a proper room. So I’ll be culling the pattern stash too and will have some lovelies to add to this pyramid should I be lucky enough to win (cue jumping up and down waving arms in the air and yelling “pick me, pick me”. ;-)

  • Hi! I always looking forward to reading your blog. I am getting back into clothing sewing after a three decade break! I would appreciate any patterns under your “B” category. Thanks!

  • Oh, what fun! I’ll add my name to “category C”. Now I must get back to my fall cleaning project-the basement…Making progress…✨

  • Please count me in for category B – SewDontBlog. I have just started sewing clothes for myself and I see some great possiblilites in your stash.

  • Please choose :) me for group B….and I LOVE fall and winter. Not so keen on the humidity that summer can bring here in…though the temps frequently are manageable, I cannot stand the unwarranted sweating!

  • I’d love to be entered into group “A”. Patterns are one thing that usually seem to stick around for me, despite any amount of decluttering I’m in the mood for; a rule where I had to pass them along (perhaps with a few of my current stash thrown in) would be good for me.

  • Wow, always on the lookout for more great patterns, and yours look awesome! Please consider me for B and C, thanks!

  • Sign me up for B and C! Since I’m the one that sent you A, I probably shouldn’t sign up again :) Thanks for the awesome de-stash!
